- What is it?
Kaun or Kanwa is a potash rockstone that imparts a smoky and creamy flavor to soups and recipes like the classic rice and beans dish Waakye. Our potash rockstone can be used in place of salt or as a thickener or tenderizer for sauces, stews and meat dishes.
- How should I use it?
Use our Potash Rockstone along with our Waakye leaves for cooking traditional Waakye. Use it to tenderize tough meats or add it when boiling water for beans to help soften them faster.
- Facts and info
This is potassium carbonate (K2CO3) or carbonate of potash, an alkaline rock salt. It has various uses including non-culinary; however, our customers love the familiar taste of home they get when adding our Kaun to their cooking.
